15 daughter poem.jpg
It is not clear what will happen to Mool's children now. With their father in prison and their mother in the ground, they are currently living together in the home of the oldest brother.

The police asked the children what they think their father's punishment should be. The oldest child said he should do a year in prison so he realises the gravity of what he has done. Peod says he doesn't want to see his father ever again.

Peod misses his mother very much. This is a poem he wrote for her after the funeral:

Older aunty is dancing the rong ngeng
Younger aunty is dancing the rong ngeng.
They dance for my mother;
They dance to show my mother and send her to heaven.
Bury her near the beach.
Brothers, uncles, dig her gravesite.
The holy man sprinkles holy water across her grave.
Three small pieces of wood beneath her coffin.
There is rice to offer my mother;
there is burning incense and candles to offer her.
Carry my mother's coffin to the grave.
Throw a handful of earth.
Offer this to my mother.
Two uncles give earth to my mother.
One uncle places coins on her coffin.
Hoe and shovel
Scoop the ground upon her grave.
To make a mound of earth.
Place the food, rice and incense by her head
For my mother's next life.
On April 27, Mrs Mool Klatalay was savagely beaten by her drunken husband. The beating took place in the hovel where Mool lived in a small sea gypsy village in southern Thailand's Phang Nga province. Villagers heard her screams, but no one intervened. No one took her to hospital. She died at home 48 hours later, after losing four pints of blood through internal bleeding. She leaves two sons, aged 19 and 12, and a daughter, aged 3.
