From their beaten-up van, which acts as a sort of mobile office, they offer counselling, HIV tests, fresh needles and basic medical care to heroin addicts all over town.<br />

Most of these addicts started injecting when they were children. Some of them still are. Some will never get to be adults.<br />

Albania's HIV epidemic is concentrated among injecting drug users and other high-risk groups, but has the potential to spread into the rest of the population. The NGO Stop AIDS, supported by UNICEF, offers information and health services to heroin addicts in the capital Tirana to reduce their chances of becoming infected.
